Steps to Enrollment for Degree-Seeking or Certificate-Seeking Students* *If you are interested in taking classes without pursuing a degree or certificate, simply apply to PVCC (Step 1) and then register for classes (Step 7) using MyPVCC. (Note: Some classes have prerequisites that may require placement test scores.) Step 1: Submit An Online Application To PVCC. Go to pvcc.edu and click on "Apply Now" to complete the Virginia Community College System's online application. After completing your application, you will receive a student ID number and username on your confirmation page. Print this page or write down this information for your records. Step 2: Apply For Financial Aid. PVCC Financial Aid • Main Building, Rm. M136 • 434.961.6545 • School Code: 009928 We encourage all degree- and certificate-seeking students to apply for financial aid. Financial aid may come in the form of grants, scholarships, loans and work-study positions. The first step is to complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) online at fafsa.ed.gov. To obtain your maximum eligibility, it is best to complete the FAFSA prior to March 31 of the year you plan to attend PVCC, but you may apply after this date. • Visit the PVCC Financial Aid Web site for more information at pvcc.edu/financialaid. • Research available scholarships at pvcc.edu/ scholarships. Step 3: Meet With An Advisor. PVCC Admissions and Advising Center • Main Building, Rm. M144 • 434.961.6551 Our mission is to help you meet your educational goals. The enrollment process at PVCC involves a series of steps and decisions that are necessary to ensure your success as a student. Stop by the Admissions and Advising Center for walk-in advising assistance (center hours at pvcc.edu/hours) or call to schedule an appointment with an advisor. To sign up for a SOAR session (Student Orientation, Advising and Registration), see page 6. *If you are a student with a documented disability requiring classroom accommodation, please inform the administrative assistant when making your appointment. Step 4: Send Official Transcripts. This is only necessary if you want to receive transfer credit for previously completed college coursework obtained outside the Virginia Community College System. Only students applying or entering allied health programs (i.e., nursing, surgical technology, emergency medical services, sonography or radiography) need to send high school transcripts. In order to have your previous college credits evaluated for transfer to PVCC, please send your official academic transcripts from the previous colleges and the completed Transcript Evaluation Request Form located at pvcc.edu/transcripteval to the mailing address below. If you attended another Virginia community college and want to receive transfer credit at PVCC, the completed Transcript Evaluation Request Form is still required, but we do not need an official transcript.
