PVCC Quick Facts Enrollment Enrollment in 2011-12 credit classes totaled 7,887 for the year, the highest since the College opened its doors in 1972 and a 20 percent increase in five years. About 78 percent of our student population attends part time. On average, 60 percent of our students are female and 40 percent are male. Sixtyone percent are age 24 or younger while 39 percent are age 25 or older. Since the College opened in 1972, more than 200,000 students have taken credit and noncredit classes, and the College has awarded more than 10,900 associate degrees and certificates. Each year, more than 500 students transfer from PVCC to a four-year college or university to pursue a bachelor's degree. To date, more than 2,500 students have transferred to the University of Virginia.
