New! Culinary Arts Associate Degree Offers Career Opportunity With this fall semester, PVCC launches our new Associate of Applied Science degree in Culinary Arts. Classes for this program are abbreviated "HRI" and are listed under the "Hotel-Restaurant-Institute Management" category HERE. Graduates of the two-year program will be prepared for entry-level jobs as chefs, sous chefs, pastry chefs, personal chefs and line cooks at casual and fast-food restaurants as well as in hotels, resorts, country clubs and other foodservice settings. The program will include credit classes in food preparation, foodservice management, nutrition, safety and sanitation, hospitality industry computer systems and more. Classes are held in our sparkling new teaching kitchen and classrooms at PVCC's Jefferson School Center, 233 Fourth St. NW, in downtown Charlottesville. Nursing Assistant Career Studies Certificate Preps Students for CNA Exam In two semesters of full-time study, complete our new Nursing Assistant Career Studies Certificate and be prepared to take the Virginia nurse aid certification exam to become a CNA. Learn practices and basic-care skills for patients of various ages with special emphasis on geriatric nursing, home health, and long- and short-term care facilities. During your studies, apply classroom learning in clinical settings for hands-on experiences.
